The Canada Child Benefit (CCB) is a tax-free monthly payment for families raising children under 18. It’s income-tested, meaning your adjusted family net income (AFNI) determines how much you receive.
Payments run on a benefit year from July to June, and the 2025–26 amounts are calculated from your 2024 tax return.
What Are The 2025–26 Maximum Amounts?
For the benefit year July 2025 to June 2026:
- Up to $7,997 per child under age 6 (about $666.42/month when receiving the maximum).
- Up to $6,748 per child aged 6–17 (about $562.33/month when receiving the maximum).
These figures reflect the government’s annual indexation to inflation, helping benefits keep pace with rising costs.
Child Disability Benefit (CDB) Add-On
If your child is eligible for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), you may receive an additional CDB of up to $3,411 per child in 2025–26 (about $284.25/month when at the maximum).
The CDB is also income-tested and is added on top of your regular CCB.
Who Is Eligible In 2025?
You may qualify if you:
- Are the primary caregiver of a child under 18 and are a resident of Canada for tax purposes.
- File your taxes every year (you and your spouse/common-law partner, if applicable).
- Have AFNI low enough to receive all or part of the benefit. Families with lower AFNI typically receive higher amounts, up to the maximum.
2025 CCB Pay Dates
The government issues monthly CCB payments on the following 2025 dates (direct deposit or cheque). If your total annual entitlement is under $240, you’ll receive a single lump-sum in July instead of monthly deposits.
- January 20, 2025
- February 20, 2025
- March 20, 2025
- April 17, 2025
- May 20, 2025
- June 20, 2025
- July 18, 2025
- August 20, 2025
- September 19, 2025
- October 20, 2025
- November 20, 2025
- December 12, 2025
How Is Your Payment Calculated?
Your base amount depends on each child’s age group.
The government then applies an income-based reduction (different rates for one, two, three, or four+ children). Because the calculation uses your 2024 AFNI, large income changes in 2024 will affect what you receive from July 2025 onward.
